Biography: As a child, I loved walking through my home in New Jersey looking up at the walls where my mother's paintings enriched our lives. Her art mixed with hand crafted treasures from my grandfather gave me an early appreciation of how art enhances a home. Paint brush in hand, and guided by Mom's skill and encouragement, I learned to paint. Soon, I contributed to the walls with my own interpretations of flowers and the sea. Our family moved to the West Coast in my early teens where my dad continued his work while we continued to paint. I currently reside in Newport Beach with my husband and two young children who are also learning to paint.
Artist Statement: Sublime color palettes are my passion.maybe an obsession. Shapes created by my interpretation of colors from nature, juxtaposed with man's presence is where I derive my compositions. Color is my soul's path to art where I like to break the boundaries of the static with fluid, thought provoking brushstrokes. In our world of structure and schedules, the simplicity of the circle, square, and rectangle pushed a bit beyond their edges is my way of creating fluidity and serenity. A landscape, still life or precious family member can be captured for eternity reflecting my constant desire to bring harmony to life with color.

Artist Statement: Oxymoron My work is about a subconscious portrayal of haunting beauty and the solitude of the existence of human beings running into an unknown world. We tend to strive to be unique and different from the rest, but on the other hand, we are afraid to be unconventional from others. It is human nature that one desires to keep a certain distance from others for the instinct of self-preservation, but psychologically, we do not want to be treated distantly by others and expect to communicate with others. We enjoy solitude, yet we are fearful of alienation. As innate attributes of human beings, we save ourselves through isolation, and internalize feelings of insecurity. I visualize explorations of the power and fragility of the human race through images of flowers, lines, and my own consciousness. It was not my intent to create "pretty pictures". Beauty is not meant to be the final representation, it is a way to intensify and strengthen a viewer's involvement with the open-ended yet intimate dramas that unfold before the imaginary dreamy landscapes. Detailed linear worlds lay out in personal complex emotional experiences to establish true identity and subjectivity, whether it is one's personal unrest or shared struggles. It is a way of looking at the self through the eyes of oneself. My works combine the 'act of painting' with pencils. The use of pencils and watercolors on paper gives me the feeling of freedom to express my sensibility better. I believe the pencil implies a sense of space spirit, and the liquidity of watercolor pigments seeping into paper offers me a special view of being able to work outside of just my ideas as well. With their atmospheric softness, these materials allow me to achieve both dexterity and emotion.
