| Biography: | Originally from Canton,
Ohio now living in Goldsboro, NC. I am a network engineer at the
hospital but my passion is Painting. I began drawing at the age of 10
and just recently tarted painting. All of my work is music inspired.
|
| Statement: | Music has always been a
huge part of my life. Playing guitar at an early age and performing in
bands throughout my 20's gave me a great appreciation of creating music.
To me, Painting is not much different. You need an instrument (brush or
knife) and you need to let go and create.
I have always described my art as the feeling you get when you hear a
song you love. I always try to convey my energy into my paintings by
Improvising to the power of the music.
My ideas are created in two ways. I start by sketching an idea
beginning with some sort of musical instrument or artist. As I continue
to add my ideas, lines are bent, shapes are created that connect and
fade into each other. These sometimes turn into other tangible items.
Details are added and then filled in with color, lots of color using
brushes, knives, trowels, spray paint and air brushes. I utilize all my
tools.
Another way I create is to go to a canvas with no preconceived idea
and begin creating with the help of music. The canvas will begin to
take on a life of its own. In the end, the painting sometimes has no
resemblance of anything organic, but represents pure energy from the
music. I have also created this way and painted musical instruments or
artists on top.
Both ways I create consist of using music as my fuel. It inspires me,
excites me and makes everything flow together. In the end, I hope it
inspires much like music would do.
