"If I could choose a term to describe my art, it would have to be
"Brightly Inspired." Whether the idea for a piece comes to me in a dream
or something I see in my day to day life, my goal is always to develop
a piece that is stimulating, head-turning and truly unique. I want the
viewers to be energized by what they see.I've always been captivated by
color and so my artwork is usually very bold, with multiple layers,
textures and shapes. This is the reason for my use of many different
materials. Often the media needed to create the look I'm seeking doesn't
exist at the art store, so I find myself re-purposing materials
discovered at craft fairs, hardware and specialty stores. You'll find
many of my newer pieces consist of a combination of new, recycled, and
re-purposed materials. When all is said and done, my motivation is very
simple: I want a show-stopping piece of art, capable of bringing both a
room and its inhabitants to life." -Michael Courville

| | Biography: | A
native of Canada, Michael Courville immigrated to Southern California
with his family at age 3. As early as first grade, Michael was taking
every art class that schools were providing including summer school and
camp His own bedroom was used as a pallet for his creativity turning it
into various themes throughout the year. A display artist by the time
he was 18, he owned his own company designing displays for store fronts,
hotels and private homes. In 1980 Michael started creating props for
Orange County theater groups, then five years later moved to Los Angeles
to work as a Prop Master in Television and Film. After showing natural
artistic design ability while working as a Landmark Entertainment
amusement park model builder, Michael was chosen to decorate Sanrio's
Puroland Amusement Park in Tokyo, Japan. Additionally, he created a
line of gift wrap, greeting cards, calendars and puzzles for
children. For the past 26 years, Michael has been Prop Master in both the

from a wide variety of life experiences, dreams, and travel.
