| | Biography: | Rosanne Nitti has been taking photographs since she could hold a camera. Learning the photographic process in high school in the black darkroom she grew to love black and white photography. She has exhibited her work at the Riverside Art Museum, 2nd City Art Center in Long Beach, CA. The Contemporary Art Center in Virginia Beach, City Hall in Laguna Beach. She is an Annual Sawdust Art Festival exhibitor and has her art in Laguna Beach currently at the Bank of America and Tiare International Salon. Always learning and shooting in both film and digital, she tries to capture images of things that you wouldn't think about normally. This makes her eye for the unusual and the "everyday" items make her standout from a regular landscape artist.
| | Statement: |
From the time I could pick up and hold a camera creating images and bringing what I see "life was a passion. Starting with my good ole Minolta 201 I was snapping away. Through the years I have learned to always have some kind of camera on hand, you just never know. I am primarily self taught. I have taken classes here and there, however spent many hours in the darkroom at the Contemporary Art Center in Virginia Beach. The darkroom is a place I can go "not to think" and to focus on the image and it's mystery. I am a purist when it comes to photography, I am not a big Photoshop advocate I find it a necessary evil in the digital world where I have evolved fighting and kicking. I still create with film, using an old Mamiya 645 and a Fuji GX617 Panorama camera and yes my Canon 40D for digital work! I love black and white images for their contrast and mystery. I see the world as though looking through a lens and try to capture it as I see it. I like to see it come from the eye to the camera and back to the eye. Although I have traveled around the world, I like to stay near my own backyard Laguna Beach. Most of the images you see will have a familiar tone to them as they are local California spots. I am lucky to live and work in Laguna Beach which is a daily inspiration with it's gorgeous coastline, fantastic weather and wonderful supportive people of the "arts". |
