| Biography: | I have spent my life surrounded by very artistic and creative people
that have influenced, and continue to influence my work. I am a
self-taught artist, owing much to my mother, a talented artist in her
own right, who has guided my hand from a very early age.
I began in sculpture but, after an injury to my hands, have turned to
painting. I particularly relish working in watercolor because of the way
the paint pigment mixes with the water and absorbs into the paper, it
is very cathartic. I strive to capture the soul or spirit and to portray
that in the painting through the details, textures and light that my
compositions contain.

| Statement: | There have been many
obstacles for me to deal with during my journey as an artist and as an
individual. I, however, look to these obstacles as circumstances that
influence my artwork. I have learned how to slow down, to look at beauty
in all its many details, to appreciate the texture of a blade of grass,
or the bark of a tree, or the color variations in a lizard's skin. I
notice the vibrancy of wildflowers, or nuances of light reflected off an
animal's fur. Life's demands have forced me to extract as much as
possible, the visual stimuli all around me, which others may pass by.
I strive to capture the subtle transitions of colors, the uneven
textures and the irregularities in the colors and shapes that make my
subject matter unique. I like to exaggerate a particular color and make
it that much more striking. I find beauty in the most unusual places and
I like to share that perspective with others through my paintings.
In the end, I am seeking depth and passion. This is what my art affords
me, and hopefully, the viewer of my work can experience the depth and
passion I strive for.
