Biography:	Eren Alptekin graduated with a masters degree in architecture from Columbia University, NY in 1985. While pursuing her career as an architect, art has always been a very important part of her life. Her exposure to history, various art forms, and different cultures during her travels abroad often provides inspirational input for her paintings. Her work reflects an abstract approach in various multi media techniques. Her bold compositions derive from simple elements of daily life like organic and inorganic shapes as well as figurative compositions. They are supplemented by strong contrast of light and shadow as well as a spatial movement of texture and color palette. Currently her art work is displayed at the Townley Gallery, Laguna Beach.
Statement:	My work reflects an abstract approach in various mixed media techniques with bold compositions derived from natural elements of daily life in response to the environment we live in and cherish. "The Figurative Imprint", "Posture Series", "Cityscapes", and "Seascapes" all concentrate on the integration of natural form, line, color, and texture to portray the juxtaposition between nature and the human experience. With the use of strong contrast of light, spatial movement of texture, and extensive color palette, my art depicts the complexity, yet the harmony within each composition, capturing a unique moment with feeling and emotion for the viewer to relate to.
