| | Biography: | I paint modern, original, abstract, textured, palette knife paintings. I paint using both oil and acrylic, in an impressionistic impasto style; creating contemporary, fine art, florals, flower paintings, tree paintings, landscapes, seascapes, and metallic art. My paintings are contemporary & modern - my abstract oil and mixed media acrylic paintings are created by palette knife, on quality, gallery-wrapped canvas. Each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind painting, created in my own studio. I am an internationally collected artist, with my paintings residing in private and corporate collections in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia, and Australia. I am currently a full-time artist. However, my collectors find it interesting that I have a Masters of Arts Degree, and in the past, spent a great many years teaching.
| | Statement: |
I paint contemporary, abstract palette knife paintings in an impasto style which allows for the creation of texture and depth in my paintings. The majority of my work is abstract florals, blossoming trees, and landscapes all full of texture and movement. I am inspired by nature and the textures, light, shapes, and beauty found within it. I have always been mesmerized by the colors, light, shadows and the organic textures found outdoors. Even as a young child, I would stare out car windows gazing at some small aspect of nature, such as tall grasses blowing in a breeze. I would notice all the different variations of color and light bouncing off of those grasses. I just wanted to reach out and "touch" it! I find now, that my paintings elicit that same type of response from many when viewed in person, everyone has an urge to "touch" them, and to actually let their fingers feel the textures they are seeing. Each day that I paint, the piece is influenced by what has influenced my mood, or inspired me at that time. I paint what I like, each day, from the heart. I may begin a painting thinking it will be of a certain subject, but as the layers of paint and color develop, it may become a whole different piece than was first imagined. I absolutely love what I do, and feel very blessed that I can do what I love! Currently, a large portion of my work is spent filling custom requests for commissioned pieces as well as selling online. I pride myself on painting unique pieces which I myself would love to display or feel proud to see displayed. I only use the highest quality artist materials so that you are guaranteed your original piece of art will last a lifetime. If a person looks at my work, and it puts a smile on their face, then I have met my goal. |
