About the Bam Bamboo Series
The Bam Bamboo Series is a celebration of natures amazing gift of strength, versatility, beauty and most importantly - sustainability. This series was inspired by a bamboo forest that the artist lived in on Maui in the 1980’s and for his concern for the unsustainability of conventional wood resources. A recent trip to Cabo in Feb 2010 would trigger a distant memory and the result would be the first representational abstraction that Bam has done in more that a decade. Additionally, this is the first time any of his work has been reproduced in almost 20 years.

The original paintings for this series are mounted on custom made bamboo frames that are designed and made by Bam. These one of a kind original paintings are available through Townley Gallery in Laguna Beach CA.

All the Bam Bamboo Series aluminum prints originate from paintings that Bam executes on recycled aluminum sheeting. The amazing effects achieved by Bam’s unique knife painting techniques are the result of decades of practice and discovery through experimentation. These kinds of techniques are not taught in art schools - but, rather they are wrought in the minds of artists who seek total originality.

Printing on aluminum is a relatively new process and a welcome one - because aluminum is the third most abundant element on earth and the most recycled material on the planet. The creation of each aluminum print begins with a high resolution scan of the original painting. Each print has been digitally altered from the original and is available in 2 different color pallets.
